Age spots, officially called seborrheic keratoses, are light to dark areas raised on the skin that can vary in size. They are made up of excess skin cells and clumping of melanin (the skin’s pigmentation). They can occur on the hands, face, shoulders, and any other parts of the body, not just areas exposed to the sun.

Do you suffer from bothersome age spots? If you do, then the chances are that you would love to get rid of them. However, age spots tend to be difficult to eradicate and usually don’t respond to creams or lotions or even lasers.  Thick barnacle like age spots respond best to liquid nitrogen treatment performed by a dermatologist.  However this treatment is often too aggressive for the thinner velvety spots on the hands, arms, chest and face that are bothersome to so many of you.  Glacial™ Rx is an excellent solution for eliminating more subtle age spots because it is very effective and safe with less risk of discoloration and scarring, and less recovery time than liquid nitrogen treatment.

*Individual Results May Vary*

How Glacial™ Rx Works

Glacial™ Rx is a form of rejuvenation cryotherapy (cold) treatment that is ideal for facial rejuvenation. Thanks to Glacial™ Rx’s CryoModulation™ process, our team of skin care experts can use the device to lighten and flatten age spots then brighten and smooth the surrounding skin of the entire face with an exfoliating peel meant to work synergistically with the freezing. As new cells form in the skin’s outer layers, they do not become darkened by extra pigmentation, and maintain a more even tone that matches the surrounding skin.

We can use Glacial™ Rx’s efficient, but controlled system to control age spots anywhere on your body without the full exfoliating peel.  The device has an adjustable cooling process for age spots on the face, chest, and hands.  However on the face the complete Glacial Rx freeze/peel combination is optimal.  With repeated facial rejuvenation session, the skin discoloration will improve, becoming more even in color and tone.   Your skin will look more radiant and youthful, and your confidence will soar.

Am I a Good Candidate for Glacial™ Rx

If you have age spots on your face or body that have developed over time and are now bothersome, then facial rejuvenation with Glacial™ Rx may be an excellent way to eliminate them. What is the Procedure Like?

At Krauss Dermatology, we perform body and facial rejuvenation procedures in our state-of-the-art medical facility, where you will feel comfortable and relaxed.

Before your Glacial™ Rx facial rejuvenation procedure, your treatment area will be cleansed and examined. During the cryotherapy freeze portion of your procedure, your expert nurse will treat individual age spots, adjusting the strength of the freezing according to the characteristics of each spot and the surrounding skin color.  After this process our aesthetician will then perform a combination chemical and cooling exfoliating peel utilizing the Glacial Rx device and products to diminish skin pigmentation and add radiance. The treatment only takes about 60 minutes in total.

Is There Any Downtime?

After facial rejuvenation treatments with Glacial™ Rx, there is minimal downtime. You can resume your normal activities right away.  Spots treated with cryotherapy will have some visible redness. This can last up to 5-7 days but makeup/tinted sunscreen can be used as coverage.

What Results Can I Expect?

The results of facial rejuvenation treatments with Glacial™ Rx results depend on the severity of your age spots, how thick and dark they are, and their size.  However treatments with Glacial™ Rx are usually very effective at eliminating age spots. Also, they result in skin that is smoother and more uniform because of the combination of the controlled freezing and the innovative cold peel.
