What Causes Excessive Sweating?
Before we can learn what stops excessive sweating, we need to better understand how it starts in the first place.
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition where overactive sweat glands in the armpits produce much more sweat than what the body requires. We sweat in order to regulate our internal temperature; with hyperhidrosis, some sweat glands are constantly active, resulting in sweat that’s not proportionate to your activity (for example, excessively sweating while cold or inactive).
In order to stop excessive sweating, these overactive glands need to be treated – and that’s exactly where miraDry® comes in.
Stop Excessive Sweating with miraDry® Treatments
miraDry® is an FDA-approved hyperhidrosis treatment that uses energy to zap overactive sweat glands, causing them to cease functioning altogether (don’t worry, your healthy sweat glands in the rest of your body won’t be affected by this treatment).
Once the overactive sweat glands are taken out of the equation, your excessive sweating usually will stop – meaning you can wear your favorite shirts without feeling self-conscious about underarm sweat ever again.
You will still be able to cool your body down during exercise and heat from the normal sweating action of the rest of your body. Underarm sweat is not a key part of body cooling and so fixing it will not impair the normal cooling function of sweating.
