If you still have areas of stubborn fat even after healthy weight management? These areas make an ideal target for CoolSculpting® Elite, the next-generation fat freezing technology. With CoolSculpting® Elite, you can see results even in areas where nothing else has worked. At Krauss Dermatology we have been performing Coolsculpting since the technology was first available.  We were one of the first practices in New England to get the first Coolsculpting device, transition to the improved Cool Advantage system in 2016 and to offer the newest and safest Cool Elite device in 2021.  We offer unparalleled safety and expertise.

What is CoolSculpting® Elite?

CoolSculpting® Elite is a non-invasive method of fat reduction that targets stubborn fat in 9 FDA-approved areas including the abdomen, flanks, upper arms, thighs, underneath the chin, and more. This technology allows people to tone and sculpt areas of the body where fat can resist attempts to get rid of it despite weight loss and working out.

How Does CoolSculpting® Elite Work?

CoolSculpting® Elite uses a technique called cryolipolysis to take advantage of the fact that fat freezes at a higher temperature than skin. This means that a temperature cold enough to freeze and disrupt fat cells will not cause any harm to the skin. The body will then naturally clear away these fat cells naturally over weeks to months, leaving you with a more sculpted figure.

What is the Difference Between CoolSculpting® and CoolSculpting® Elite?

As a more advanced version of older CoolSculpting® systems, CoolSculpting® Elite features two applicators so we can treat two areas at the same time, speeding up your treatment. Like its predecessors, CoolSculpting® Elite can remove 20-25% of fat from treated areas, but it can treat larger areas for better and faster results. CoolSculpting® Elite also features a new C-shaped applicator for enhanced comfort, more efficient cooling of the treatment area and decreased pressure on the treated tissue decreasing the risk of side effects

What are the Risks of Coolsculpting® Elite?

Coolsculpting® Elite is the safest type of Coolsculpting procedure.  Over the last decade Coolsculpting devices have been improved to squeeze tissue less during treatment leading to decreased potential side effects.  The most concerning side effect is Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH).  This causes the treated area to get larger instead of smaller and the tissue becomes more rubbery in consistency. Liposuction  or the non surgical injection Kybella is usually successful in improving this condition dramatically.  Overall, since the beginning of Coolsculpting a decade ago, the incidence of PAH is 1 in 3,000 cycles.  When the first upgraded system called Cool Advantage was developed (and we were the one of the first in the Northeast to upgrade to it in 2016), the incidence of PAH was reduced by 75%  The newest system, Coolsculpting® Elite has further improved on the safety of the 2016 system.  Other rare side effects include hyperpigmentation (darkening) of the treatment area.  This occurs in 1 in 11.000 cycles and can be improved with a variety of treatments.  Compared to surgical liposuction, minimally invasive laser assisted fat reduction and non-invasive heat based laser fat reduction, Coolsculpting® Elite is the safest and least painful alternative.

What is CoolSculpting® Elite Like?

All of our CoolSculpting® Elite treatments are performed by our board certified dermatologists working together with our expert technicians on each procedure to ensure that you achieve the best results. Treatments usually take 30-60 minutes. You may feel cold or tingling during the treatment, but the new curved applicators keep people more comfortable, reading their emails or listening to podcasts.

What Results Will I See With CoolSculpting® Elite?

You may start to see results from your treatment after as little as a month. You will see the most dramatic results after three to four months when the body has had time to remove all the damaged fat cells. The treated areas will look noticeably slimmer and sculpted, and the definition of muscles underneath will become more visible. We recommend a minimum of 2 treatments for most patients.

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting® Elite?

Ideal candidates already lead a healthy lifestyle and are within 25 pounds of their target weight but have stubborn areas of fat left to lose. People who should not have CoolSculpting® Elite treatment include those who have medical conditions that make them sensitive to cold or who have scarring disorders.

Is There Any Downtime With CoolSculpting® Elite?

You may see redness and swelling that lasts a few days, but this should not keep you from returning to all your normal activities right away. Because the treatment does not harm the skin, there is no downtime required.
