What is Daxxify™?
Daxxify™ is one of several products called neurotoxins or neuromodulators. The term “neuromodulator” is more accurate since the active ingredient, botulinum toxin type A, is not toxic in recommended quantities. Botox® and its relatives typically last for three to four months. Daxxify™ uses a different formula that averages six and up to nine months of results. You can spend less time scheduling visits and more time enjoying your wrinkle-free skin. Daxxify is somewhat more expensive than Botox but the price of the treatments over time works out to be roughly equivalent.
How Does Daxxify™ Work?
Unlike Botox®, the botulinum toxin in Daxxify™ is combined with a small lab-made protein called a peptide. These peptides help Daxxify™ bind to the targeted facial nerves more tightly than other neuromodulators for longer-lasting results. When Daxxify™ binds to the nerves, it stops them from sending signals to your facial muscles. When your Krauss dermatologist injects Daxxify™, they target the facial nerves that cause expression lines and wrinkles. When these muscles relax, your frown lines and forehead creases will smooth and fade.
How Is Daxxify™ Different Than Botox®?
Daxxify™ and Botox® share a similar primary ingredient, botulinum toxin. However, they differ in several ways.
Formula
First, the peptide formula used by Daxxify™ lets it act on the nerves more effectively. It also lets Daxxify™ stay attached to the nerves for much longer. You will start to see Botox® results fade within three to four months. Daxxify™ results last on average 50% longer. With an average of six and up to nine months between appointments, Daxxify™ makes wrinkle smoothing easier and more convenient than ever.
Results
Daxxify™ is FDA-approved for horizontal lines between the brows (frown lines or the 11’s). It can also be used effectively in other locations where neuromodulators are typically used. After two weeks, 93% of people who had tried Botox® in the past preferred Daxxify™.
Is There Any Downtime With Daxxify™?
Your Daxxify™ appointment may take as little as 15 minutes. You can return to your usual daily activities right away. Your dermatologist will instruct you to avoid rubbing your face or engaging in strenuous activity for up to 24 hours to let your Daxxify™ settle into place. Minor swelling and bruising may occur but will fade within a few days.
Am I a Good Candidate for Daxxify™?
If you have had Botox® or similar products before, you should be a good candidate for Daxxify™. Good candidates want to address expression lines and wrinkles with more time between appointments. Those new to neuromodulators might prefer to try a shorter-acting formula first to make sure they like their results before committing to nine months with Daxxify™.
