What is Jeuveau®?
Jeuveau®, an alternative to Botox®, uses a synthetic form of botulinum toxin to smooth out lines and wrinkles. Jeuveau® has been designed, and FDA approved for cosmetic use on glabellar lines. Because these lines and wrinkles develop due to muscles pulling on the skin, they are called dynamic wrinkles. Static wrinkles, which come from sagging skin, respond better to other types of treatment, such as dermal fillers.
How Does Jeuveau® Work?
The botulinum toxin in Jeuveau® acts on the nerves that tell the targeted muscles to contract. It stops these nerves from sending signals to the muscles. As a result, the muscles stop pulling on the skin, and your lines and wrinkles become smooth and relaxed. At Krauss Dermatology, board-certified dermatologists perform all neuromodulator injections including Jeuveau®, Botox® and Dysport® injections, so you achieve the best, most natural-looking results.
Does Jeuveau® Work Better Than Botox®?
The active ingredient in Jeuveau®, Botox® and Dysport® works in the same way. Some people may respond better to one or the other. We offer Jeuveau® as an alternative for people who want to try something different than Botox®. We will work with you to determine which product will provide you with the best results. Jeuveau® is FDA-approved for glabellar lines, but some providers use it off-label in other areas.
What Results Will I See With Jeuveau®?
You will see a reduction in the frown lines between your brows, making you look younger and refreshed. Many people see results in as little as 72 hours. Results are complete within about 14 days, and you can expect them to last from three to four months. Some people who have more mild frown lines use Jeuveau® as a preventative measure to stop the skin from being pulled into deeper wrinkles.
Is There Any Downtime With Jeuveau®?
You can resume your usual activities after your Jeuveau® treatment but suggest you avoid strenuous exercise is delayed until the next day. Minor bruises or red spots can occur at the injection sites, but these will fade within a few days. Jeuveau® takes about fifteen minutes, and you can return to your day immediately afterward.
Am I a Good Candidate for Jeuveau®?
Jeuveau®, Botox® and Dysport® and other neuromodulators of this type have an excellent safety record. You may be a good candidate if you have frown lines between your brows and want to try a Botox® alternative. You may not be a good candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you have certain medical conditions.
