What is CoolSculpting®?
CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive, non-surgical medical procedure that can remove fat cells from the body. It has several benefits over traditional surgical procedures, which makes it an attractive option for those considering removing excess weight in their bodies.
The CoolSculpting® procedure known as cryolipolysis freezes fat cells to destroy them. The original coolsculpting device used a vacuum to draw fat between two panels that cooled the area just enough so fat freezes but skin does not, causing only fat cells to die by a process called “apoptosis”. The frozen, dead fat cells are removed by the body over time.
Both Coolsculpting and Coolsculpting Elite procedures work best on people within 30 lbs of their ideal weight with a healthy lifecycle.

It is thought that squeezing reduced oxygenation of the treated fat and contributed to the potential side effect of Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH), where a treated area can get firm and grow larger instead of shrinking. The incidence of this side effect is approximately 1 in 4,000 cycles over the past decade of Coolsculpting procedures. Generally PAH can be treated with Kybella or Liposuction with good resolution, however side effects from these corrective treatments is possible. No cases of PAH have yet been reported with the new Cool Elite system as yet, and we hope that the decreased pressure on the treated tissue will make this very uncommon side effect even more rare.
