As you get older, you may notice lax skin on your neck and face or less definition in your jawline. In the past, the only way to resolve this issue was surgery. The good news is that technology has evolved and there is now a non-surgical option that can help. Ultherapy can improve jowls, jawline laxity, neck sagging without any anesthesia, needles, or downtime. Let’s dive deeper into how Ultherapy tightens skin.
How Ultherapy Works
Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to create tiny areas of thermal injury to the deep layers of your subcutaneous tissue as well as the dermal layer of your skin. When this happens, it stimulates the production of new collagen and tightens the “SMAS” muscular and fascial layer under the skin. While ultherapy is known to lift the lower face, jawline, and neck, it can also do wonders for the decolletage. You can expect an average Ultherapy treatment to last anywhere between 60 and 90 minutes. Fortunately, the treatment is completely safe and well-tolerated particularly with our use of Pro-Nox, our nitrous oxide and oxygen blend that you can inhale as needed during the procedure for discomfort and anxiety.
Once you receive a treatment, it’ll take about 5 to 6 months for you to notice complete results. Here’s why: Your body will slowly but surely stimulate new collagen and lift your skin and underlying tissue. While Ultherapy does not stop the natural process of aging, it does lead to long-lasting results, turning back the clock. If you believe the results have worn off, we encourage you to return to our office for additional treatments. You may repeat the procedure after a year or more if the additional improvement is desired. Many patients find treatment every 3-5 years helpful in defying the aging process.

Benefits of Ultherapy
Perhaps the greatest benefit of ultherapy is the fact that it can tighten lax skin without surgery. Since there is no downtime involved, it’s a great way to take years off your face without a major disruption to your life. Our dermatologists often recommend this treatment if you’d like to see more dramatic results with injectables, laser resurfacing, and similar treatments.
Good Candidates for Ultherapy
If you are starting to notice sagging skin on your face without surgery, ultherapy is a great option. Although it is not as dramatic as a facelift, it can help you achieve a youthful, refreshed appearance. Our dermatologists typically suggest ultherapy if you are facing mild to moderate skin laxity and early signs of jowling. This treatment may be ineffective if you’re bothered by more severe laxity and aging. We generally recommend this treatment for patients under the age of 65 as results are not as dramatic in more severely sun-damaged skin or older individuals.
I have been seeing Dr. Krauss for probably eight years and my boys all see other doctors in the practice. They are thorough, nice, timely, have a great staff, and really keep our skin looking great. If you are curious about cosmetic procedures they offer everything under the sun and never push you to do things. Highly recommended.
