Brella™
Brella™ for Hyperhidrosis and Odor
We all sweat, especially from underneath our arms, but some people find the amount of sweat and associated odor they produce difficult to manage. Brella™ is the first treatment of its kind to address excessive sweating and the resulting odor with a fast, convenient solution.

What is Brella™ for Hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for a condition where you produce too much sweat. This happens most often in the underarms, and it can lead to issues like embarrassment, odor, and clothing ruined by sweat stains. Brella™ is a needle-free sweat and odor control patch applied to the skin in your underarms. It reacts with the water in your sweat glands to deactivate them for several months at a time.
How Does Brella™ Work?
Brella™ offers an entirely new way to control underarm sweat. It uses a chemical reaction precisely controlled by a patch to protect your skin while putting your sweat glands into a dormant state.
When applied to the skin under your arm, a layer of sodium inside the patch undergoes a chemical reaction with the water inside your sweat glands. This reaction produces heat, just enough to target the sweat gland itself. As a result, you can see a significant decrease in underarm sweat and odor within days.
Am I a Good Candidate for Brella™?
Because Brella™ does not use any form of laser or light energy, it is safe for all skin tones. You do not need a medical diagnosis of hyperhidrosis to benefit from this treatment. In fact, most people with excessive sweating never receive an official diagnosis. If underarm sweat has a negative effect on your confidence, you might be an ideal candidate for Brella™.
Good candidates for this treatment should meet a few criteria:
- Looking for underarm sweat and odor control (Brella™ is only FDA-cleared for the underarms)
- In generally good health
- Have no skin irritation or injury in the treatment area
Brella™ may not be recommended if you have certain skin conditions, a flare-up of an existing skin condition, or are pregnant.
People who want to treat hyperhidrosis but are not good candidates for Brella™ may be considered for miraDry®, a treatment that uses heat energy to deactivate sweat glands. The choice between the two is best made after a consultation and discussion of your needs and concerns.
What is a Brella™ Treatment Like?
Each Brella™ patch only stays on your skin for three minutes before being removed. People describe the sensation as tingly or prickly. Most people will spend about 20 minutes in total getting treated. A single treatment will give most people a significant decrease in underarm sweat and odor without needles.
What Results Will I See With Brella™ For Hyperhidrosis?
One Brella™ treatment will allow most people to reduce underarm sweating to the point where it no longer bothers them. You may notice results in as few as three days. With less sweat, you will also experience a decrease in underarm odor and no longer have to worry about sweat stains on your clothing.
Results from Brella™ typically last three to four months. As a result, a few sessions a year can control sweat without discomfort or unpleasant side effects. The only common side effect of Brella™ is minor skin irritation in the treatment area.
Is There Any Downtime After Brella™ Treatment?
You can leave your Brella™ treatment and return to your usual activities immediately. There is no downtime required. Your skin may look red and feel sensitive for up to a few days. The lack of downtime and quick treatment time makes Brella™ an ideal option for those with busy schedules seeking a solution to their hyperhidrosis.
