UltraClear Post-Procedure Instructions

All patients should use an occlusive ointment – Cerave Healing Ointment, Vaseline Jelly, Vaniply Ointment or Aquaphor at least 4 times per day to the entire treatment area.

Keep the provided sterile water (8 ounces to which ½ tsp of white vinegar was added) in the refrigerator. Before reapplying the ointment, use the 4×4” provided gauze pads with the cool water/vinegar mixture to gently remove by pressing (not rubbing) the remaining ointment on the skin. Then reapply the ointment with a tongue depressor or with fingers after washing hands with soap and water.

Keep your head elevated on multiple pillows (with clean pillowcases) when sleeping.

To minimize swelling you may take a non-sedating antihistamine if desired, preferably Zyrtec or Xyzal in the a.m. and p.m.

If you have received a superficial “Clear” procedure, expect to use the occlusive ointment for 2 days. If you have received the deeper or combination treatment “UltraClear”, you should use the occlusive ointment for 3-4 days.

After you stop the ointment, use a bland moisturizer at least 3 times per day such as Vanicream, Cerave Cream or Cetaphil Cream.

You may use a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.

Starting 3 days post-treatment for a superficial treatment, or 4-5 days post deeper treatment, you may use mineral/physical sunscreen (Zinc/Titanium), regular or tinted. Use a new tube, or a product from a pump bottle so it will not have bacterial contamination. Apply gently, and remove with fingers only, no scrubbing, with a gentle soap.

Do not vigorously exercise or do hot yoga for 3 days for superficial procedures, and 5-7 days for deeper procedures.

Do not use any tretinoin/retinol, glycolic acid, or exfoliation for at least 2 weeks post-treatment.

Wear a hat and try to avoid direct sun exposure, in addition to using sunscreen, for 4 weeks.

Call immediately if you have increasing pain (burning sensation should improve over the first day or two), intense itching, any pustules (white bumps), increasing clear or yellow drainage, fever or chills. 781-416-3500

Additional treatments can be performed after 4 weeks for superficial procedures, and 6-8 weeks for deeper procedures.
