How Does Juvederm® Work?
Juvederm® contains hyaluronic acid that are linked into chains that last in the skin. This molecule attracts and retains moisture in the skin, improving hydration and keeping the skin full and healthy. Hyaluronic acid decreases with age, and so does collagen, an essential protein that gives skin its firmness and support. Studies have also shown that injection of hyaluronic acid fillers improves collagen production as well.
Facial volume decreases over time from decreased collagen, change in the fat pads in the face, changes in our skeletal support and decreased hydration. Juvederm® can be used to replenish areas that have sagged, hollowed or developed lines and wrinkles and give your face softer, more youthful contours. The Juvederm® family of products also includes fillers to sublty enhance lips whether your goal is to eliminate the fine vertical lines around the lips, or slightly plump deflated lips.
How Long Does Juvederm® Last?
Juvederm® products come in multiple formulations including. Most Juvederm® fillers last between six and eighteen months. The more hydrating fillers Juvederm Ultra Plus and Juvederm Ultra last up to 1 year. The thicker filler Juvederm Voluma is the longest lasting hyaluronic acid filler currently available and in most patients last about two years. It is ideal for cheeks, jawline and improving chin projection. The thinner filler Juvederm Volbella corrects fine lines around the lip without puffiness and despite its fine texture is also likely to last a year or more.
Types of Juvederm® Dermal Fillers
The Juvederm® family includes a type of filler to treat almost every area of the face. These include:
- Juvederm® Voluma® XC – to correct volume loss and add fullness to the cheek, jawline and chin area
- Juvederm® Volbella® XC – gives natural-looking correction of lip lines and gentle definition to the lips themselves
- Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC – versatile filler for marionette area (corner of the mouth down) and nasolabial folds (nose to corners of mouth) as well as other depressions and wrinkles
- Juvederm® Ultra XC- another versatile filler, more subtle than Ultra Plus, for finer lines and wrinkles.
How Much Does Juvederm® Cost?
We base our Juvederm® and other dermal filler pricing on the cost of an initial syringe, followed by a decreased cost for any additional syringes needed. The cost for most Juvederm® products is $675 per syringe, with additional syringes reduced by $100 each for a same-day treatment. Some products, including Juvederm® Voluma, cost more because they are longer-lasting and provide more correction per syringe than most others.

All hyaluronic acid based fillers are able to be dissolved with Hyaluronidase, a safe injection that breaks the bonds of the filler and reduce it to the normal hyaluronic acid molecules normally found in our skin. A tiny amount or the entire injected area can be dissolved over about 48 hours.

Injections with Hyaluronic Acid Fillers Stimulate Collagen Production
For about 4 months after an injection of Juvederm, your skin’s fibroblast cells in the treatment area make more collage than they did prior to the injection, adding to the improved appearance and overall health of the skin.
Use With Other Treatments
Juvederm® can be used with Botox® or many other treatments and procedures. Some people choose to have Juvederm® along with a skin rejuvenation procedure for maximum age-reversing results.
