What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® uses ultrasound technology to stimulate cells in the subcutaneous tissue and dermis of your skin. These cells start producing collagen, a vital structural protein that gives the skin, and fascial layers under the skin, firmness and support. The skin loses collagen as we age, leading to skin laxity and loss of definition. Ultherapy® reverses this decline in collagen to give your skin and subcutaneous tissue a lift.
How Does Ultherapy®Work?
Using micro-focused ultrasound, Ultherapy® travels through the outer layers of skin to reach the cells in the dermis and deeper layers. It produces heat that stimulates these cells to start producing new collagen. This collagen adds support and elasticity, making the tissue firmer and tighter. As a result, you see less sagging and a more defined jawline and neck. To make Ultherapy® treatment comfortable for you, we offer Pro-Nox, a combination of nitrous oxide and oxygen that will wear off almost immediately so you can still drive home.
How Long Does Ultherapy® Last?
Your Ultherapy® results will take two to three months to develop. Thanks to the new collagen, results can last years. Follow-up treatments can maintain your more slender and sculpted results, although how often you will need a follow-up visit depends on your skin and its natural aging process.
How Much Does Ultherapy® Cost?
At Krauss Dermatology, we offer full lower face treatment for $2300. This includes the jaw, under the chin, and beneath the cheekbones. We can also perform the treatment on your neck and the lower face for $2800. You do not need a series of Ultherapy® treatments, only one is required. During your consultation, ask about options to add areas like the brows or décolletage. Ultherapy® provides the only FDA-cleared method for lifting the lower face and neck noninvasively.
What Results Will I See With Ultherapy®?
Collagen development takes time, so Ultherapy® results do not appear right away. After about two or three months you will start to see your skin become tighter and your jawline and area under the chin become more defined.
Is There Any Downtime With Ultherapy®?
Most people experience minimal downtime with Ultherapy. You may notice some minor bruising which you can feel free to cover with makeup. Some subtle welts on the neck and face generally resolve within hours to a day or two. You can resume your usual activities, but make sure to use sunscreen and avoid sun exposure on your treated skin.
Am I a Good Candidate for Ultherapy®?
Ultrasound energy is used in many settings, and you may be familiar with the term from ultrasound scans performed on pregnant women. This safe skin-penetrating energy powers Ultherapy®, making most people good candidates for treatment. If you have significant loose skin, we may suggest a different treatment. Utherapy generally works best on women and men under 65 years of age.
