I’m getting vaccinated soon, can I still get filler?
Avoid filler injections within 2 weeks before or after any vaccination, whether it is a first or second Covid-19 vaccination, flu or shingles vaccine.
The incidence of swelling in areas of filler due to the Covid vaccine is extremely low. Do not avoid getting vaccinated if you have had filler!
Avoid filler within 2 weeks of dental cleanings or dental procedures.
Our Covid-19 Protocols
- Upon entering the office we will ask you a number of prescreening questions to help keep you and others safe. These questions will include your potential exposure to COVID-19, your recent travel, and if you’ve had any COVID-19 symptoms within the past 14 days
- Expect to wear a mask throughout your time at Krauss Dermatology, except for those times when you are actively being treated.
- Our board-certified double-vaccinated dermatologists will inject your dermal fillers and will be wearing a medical grade mask at all times to help protect you during your appointment.
- High level ventilation, air purification and disinfection protocols are in place in all patient rooms and public areas.
Which Dermal Fillers are Available?
Dermal fillers come in a variety of biocompatible materials. The most popular material for dermal fillers, hyaluronic acid, starts adding volume within days. This molecule, also popular in skincare products, pulls moisture into the skin and keeps it there to improve hydration. One of the best attributes of hyaluronic acid fillers is their ability to be dissolved by an injection of hyaluronidase, used for years to help local anesthesia work better. This allows removal of a small bump of filler or even the entire amount of filler injected. This increases the safety profile of this type of fillers over non-removable fillers. The following dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid, but all contain a range of options.
Juvederm®
The Juvederm® family of dermal fillers can enhance the lips, cheeks, and other areas of the face while smoothing lines and wrinkles. It includes the popular products Juvederm® Voluma XC for cheeks, jawline and chin, Juvederm® Volbella XC for lip lines and subtle lip rejuvenation, and Juvederm® Ultra, a favorite for natural looking rejuvenated lips, and Ultra Plus XC which is very versatile.
Restylane®
The Restylane® family of fillers also uses hyaluronic acid formulas. It contains members like Restylane® Lyft for adding cheek volume, reversing deep creases and is a favorite for male patients, Restylane® Refyne and Defyne for lines and wrinkles, and the popular Restylane® Kysse for luscious lip plumping.
RHA®
Recently introduced from Europe, the RHA® Collection of hyaluronic acid formulas provides soft, natural enhancement. Its members can treat lines around the mouth or nasolabial folds (creases between the nose and mouth). They can also treat lost cheek volume, provide natural-looking lift and fullness to the facial features, and subtly enhance the lips. They are meant to work well and look natural in mobile areas.
Am I a Good Candidate for Dermal Fillers?
Most people are good candidates for dermal fillers, whether it be for subtle superficial line correction or more dramatic facial shaping to enhance and improve cheeks, chin and jawline. Hyaluronic acid fillers are very safe, and at Krauss Dermatology, we keep the enzyme hyaluronidase available to get rid of any unwanted filler should that occur. This enzyme rapidly breaks down hyaluronic acid, so if you have a reaction or even if in the exceedingly rare event you don’t love your results, these fillers are reversible!
