Youthful skin has healthy, vibrant new cells continuously coming to the surface. As we age, the surface layers of skin become dull, damaged, and rough. Dermaplaning peels away these dull outer layers to reveal brighter skin underneath. It also removes even the finest peach fuzz that you can never manage to get rid of at home.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning uses a sharp, sterile blade to gently scrape away the outer layers of skin. Only professionals should perform this treatment to ensure safety and good results. At Krauss Dermatology, we pair dermaplaning with a micropeel to give you smooth, soft, luminous skin. The combination of physical and chemical exfoliation provides a double dose of brightening power.

How Does Dermaplaning Work?

Skin cells are steadily pushed up to the surface by new cells underneath. By the time they have reached the surface, they often look dull and rough. By removing dead outer layers of skin cells and adding a mild peel, dermaplaning makes the epidermis smoother and more able to retain moisture resulting in an amazing glow. These newer layers of cells feel softer and smoother. Your skin also looks clearer without dead skin or debris to clog the pores. Makeup goes on smoothly for that special occasion and photo op.

How to Get Rid of Peach Fuzz With Dermaplaning

While removing layers of dead skin cells, dermaplaning also removes the fuzz, those delicate hairs that your razor can never vanquish. No at-home method can remove fine hairs as effectively as a dermaplaning blade in the hands of a professional. And that glow…

How Often Should I Have Dermaplaning?

The new reflective skin cells that come to the surface with dermaplaning will start to return to normal in a few weeks. You can have dermaplaning every three to four weeks. This will maintain your bright, smooth skin and keep peach fuzz from returning.

Why Pair a Micropeel with Dermaplaning?

When dermaplaning is paired with a micropeel, the peel removes even more dead skin and debris for enhanced brightening and rejuvenation. We use SkinCeuticals Micropeel Sensitive Solution, a mild peel suitable for almost all skin types. This micropeel works gently enough for use on the skin immediately after dermaplaning and you can have it as often as every few weeks.

Is There Any Downtime With Dermaplaning?

After dermaplaning, you should avoid sun exposure and use sun protection on your freshly revealed skin. You may notice some redness immediately after treatment, but this is mild and fades within a few hours. You do not need any downtime and can return to your usual routine. In fact doing this procedure a day or two before a big event can make you look spectacular.

Am I a Good Candidate for Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning works safely on all skin tones and almost all skin types. Almost anyone can have dermaplaning as well as the SkinCeuticals micropeel. We do not recommend dermaplaning for people with active acne, sunburn, or inflamed skin.
