Loss of facial volume often happens with age, and it can make your face look hollow and tired. You may also experience a loss of skin firmness that causes deep lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers smooth wrinkles and restore volume. You look youthful and rejuvenated without surgery or invasive procedures.

What are Dermal Fillers?

If you want to smooth lines and wrinkles, add volume, or achieve more contoured features, dermal fillers can help. These injectable treatments use FDA-approved, biologically safe materials. Your Krauss dermatologist has a range of dermal fillers to choose from when planning your treatment. Dermal fillers can be used for areas like the cheeks, lips, around the mouth, and deep lines and folds. At Krauss Dermatology we only use hyaluronic acid fillers which are the most safe type and are even reversible!  Only our Board Certified Dermatologists inject filler in our practice, and our doctors have been voted Best of Boston for years and in 2022 among the 50 Best Cosmetic Dermatologists in the U.S. by Newsweek Magazine.

What is the Average Cost of Dermal Fillers?

At Krauss Dermatology we offer three brands of dermal fillers: Juvederm®, Restylane®, and the RHA® family of fillers. The average cost of dermal fillers varies according to several factors:

  • Type of filler
  • Number of syringes
  • Availability of promotions (such as through Allergan Alle program)

Most of our dermal fillers cost $675 per syringe. If you need more than one syringe, it will be discounted by $100. Some of our dermal fillers, particularly the longer-lasting ones, may cost more. Juvederm Voluma is $975 for the first syringe, and the RHA fillers are $775 per syringe. Only a consultation can determine how much filler you may need and which type your dermatologist will recommend.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Juvederm®, Restylane®, and RHA® fillers use the same type of material. Hyaluronic acid is a large molecule found naturally in the skin. It serves a vital function, attracting and holding moisture in your skin to keep it hydrated. Hyaluronic acid formulas can have different properties, so some might work better for challenging areas like the cheeks, while another might work better for flexible areas like the lips. Each family of dermal fillers has several formulas for use in different areas.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Each person responds differently to dermal fillers. Hyaluronic acid fillers typically last six to eighteen months. Denser, sturdier fillers will usually last longer than softer fillers used on the lips and around the mouth. Fillers that target lines and wrinkles often fall somewhere between these two types of fillers.

Am I a Good Candidate for Dermal Fillers?

The FDA has approved several brands of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. If you want to smooth lines and restore volume, you might be a good candidate. Almost anyone can receive these dermal fillers safely. You may not be a good candidate if you have ever had a reaction to a similar filler in the past.

Is There Any Downtime With Dermal Fillers?

You might notice a few small bruises or some minor swelling after your injections. You can return to your daily activities immediately after treatment. Most people will see their full results within a day or two.
